individuals and families in America
- In 2000, the forest products industry nationwide owned 51.8 million
acres, and by 2009 ownership by the forest products industry was less
than 20 million acres.
- In the last 15 years, timberland has become an asset class and has
attracted over $50 billion from institutional investors, REITs and pension
funds.
- Investors have purchased timberland from Boise Cascade, Longview
Timber, Menasha Forest Products, Temple Inland, International Paper
Company, MeadWestvaco Corporation and other fully integrated forest
product companies.
- These new owners create on-going land sale programs as an integral

individuals.
- Nearly ten million private landowners own timberland and other wooded
